With deep sorrow, we announce that on 15 February 2025, cycling star and RSB “Latvello” member Faris Kučinskis passed away.
During his career, Faris became a USSR champion in track sprint tandem racing, winning four silver medals and one bronze medal. He was a six-time USSR Cup winner in tandem sprint, classic sprint, and team elimination races.
Faris was also a six-time USSR Armed Forces champion in various track disciplines and the holder of five additional podium finishes. On the national level, he triumphed sixteen times, becoming Latvian champion in individual and team track events.
He achieved notable success in international competitions in Romania, Austria, Germany, Hungary, and Czechoslovakia. Faris was also a candidate for the USSR national team for participation in the Tokyo Olympic Games.
