Cycling legend Harijs Japiņš
(12.12.1930 – 09.01.2021).
In brief:
Harijs Japiņš won the
USSR Track Cycling Championship
twice (in 1952 and 1953).
In 1951 he earned the title of
USSR Master of Sport.
From 1950 to 1955, Harijs Japiņš was a member of the USSR national cycling team. He was also the first winner of the Baltic multi-day cycling race.
Harijs Japiņš was selected for the USSR national team to compete in the 1952 Summer Olympic Games in Helsinki, but ultimately remained a reserve athlete.
