With deep sorrow, we announce that Māra Japiņa (née Federe), an outstanding Latvian athlete and cycling champion, has passed away.
Māra Japiņa left a significant mark on the history of Latvian sport, becoming a two-time USSR track cycling champion. Her achievements also include seven silver and three bronze medals won in USSR competitions.
Māra Japiņa also set a USSR record in the 20 km road race, demonstrating her excellence and perseverance in sport. Her athletic accomplishments and contribution to the development of cycling in Latvia will remain in memory as a source of inspiration for future generations.
Māra Japiņa was not only an exceptional athlete, but also a passionate sports enthusiast who, through her dedication and work, enriched Latvian sporting life. Her legacy will live on through those she inspired and supported throughout her sporting career.
