The members of RSB “Latvello” have been joined by an outstanding Latvian cyclist Galina Aleksandrova (born in 1946 in Liepāja).
Galina Aleksandrova began her sporting career in the sports society “Daugava”, later also representing the clubs “Dinamo” and “Vārpa”. She became a 31-time Latvian champion and also a multiple-time USSR champion (17 times on the road and 14 times on the track).
At the USSR Championships, Galina Aleksandrova won three gold 🥇, six silver 🥈, and seven bronze 🥉 medals, as well as 18 gold medals in other USSR cycling competitions.
Her success continued in veterans’ sport as well — Galina Aleksandrova became a three-time World Champion, a four-time European Champion, and a three-time World Cup winner.
In 1964, she won the title of Latvia’s Best Female Athlete for the first time. In addition to her sporting career, from 1987 to 1995 Galina Aleksandrova also served as the director of the Liepāja “Metalurgs” Sports School.
