Māra Japiņa / Federe (1933–2024).

Today we share unique historical material about an outstanding Latvian athlete. From her relatives, we have received 250 photographs, and in this article we publish 61 images dated to the 1950s–1980s.

Māra Japiņa / Federe was a two-time USSR track cycling champion. Her sporting career also includes seven silver and three bronze medals won at USSR competitions.

She also set a USSR record in the 20 km road race, demonstrating her excellence, perseverance, and high level of mastery in sport.

After concluding her active athletic career, Māra Japiņa / Federe dedicated herself to coaching the younger generation, inspiring and shaping future athletes.
