In our October 17 article we already mentioned that in 1983, from July 23 to August 5, the 8th Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR took place in Moscow. In the 4 km team pursuit (track), Dainis Grantiņš, Dainis Liepiņš, Martins Palejs and Armands Freimanis won third place.
The men’s road cycling events at the Spartakiad were divided into a multi-day stage race in Ukraine, as well as team and mass-start races in Alma-Ata (today – Almaty, Kazakhstan).
