In 1975, the Grand Prize competition of the Riga Film Studio magazine “Sports Review” was held for track cycling sprinters. The competition featured cyclists from Latvia, Belarus, Moldova, Turkmenistan, and Armenia.
The races were held in three stages:
- 06 June – qualifying races at the Liepāja “Dinamo” velodrome;
- 07–08 June – qualifying races at the Ventspils “Dinamo” velodrome;
- 14–15 June – final races at the Riga “Daugava” velodrome.

🐓 It should be noted that the film studio’s emblem features a rooster, therefore each Grand Prize winner also received a white rooster. The most aggressive bird was awarded to the most aggressive young cyclist — the audience’s unanimous choice in 1975 was Juris Prombergs (“the little blade”). The most peaceful rooster, in turn, was awarded to sprinter Agris Buravs.
