Both Dainis and many other well-known Latvian cyclists support the initiative of the Cycling Sports Association “Latvello” to create a unified, publicly accessible digital platform, where photographs, videos, and audiovisual materials will be collected and digitized, along with articles from newspapers, books, and other sources about athletes who were professionally involved in cycling during the 19th and 20th centuries, including speed skating, with a particular emphasis on cycling.
The association’s team has developed the project, and at present is actively seeking funding for its implementation. At the same time, in 2024, we have already digitized several thousand photographs.
If you also have any historical materials at home related to cycling or speed skating, such as photographs, posters, booklets, notes, etc., or if you know relatives of former athletes, we kindly ask you to contact the association’s representative Oskars.
