Two new members have joined our Cycling Sports Association
“Latvello”

Modris Dievkociņš and Ernests Pūce.
A few words about them:
Modris Dievkociņš
🚲 In an interview a few years ago, Modris said:
“I have long been friends with the bicycle.
I began my sporting journey in 1956,
while working at the ‘Sarkanā Zvaigzne’
(‘Red Star’) factory.
In my daily work, meeting outstanding cyclists from the
‘Daugava’ sports association and members of the
Republic national team, such as Alberts Klauža,
Jānis Frišmanis, Valdis Aizpurvs and others,
strengthened my interest in cycling and served as an example
of hard and dedicated work.”
At the age of 84, Modris rides his bicycle less frequently, but he remains an active supporter of cycling. In the past, he served as a member of the Republic Cycling Judges’ Panel for 30 years, helping to organise competitions both on the road and on the track. Cycling also helped him recover his health after a serious illness.
It should also be noted that Modris is the author of several articles – his writings on race organisation, results, and other cycling-related topics were published in the newspaper “Sports”.
Ernests Pūce
In his youth, Ernests competed in track and road cycling events,
winning five Latvian championship titles on the track.
For his achievements, in 2023 Ernests Pūce received an Award for Lifetime Contribution to Latvian Cycling. He is also the author of the book “Stories of an Old Cyclist”, in which he describes his experience in cycling from childhood through his active years as a coach.
